Permagard Vehicle Protection

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Permagard is Australia’s premier provider of high quality finishing touches that add longevity and protection to vehicles. The automotive range includes the popular Permagard Paint Protection, Permagard Window Tint and Permagard Antimicrobial. The European-based company’s products are part of the only aftermarket vehicle protection program that has been approved by Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific and has proven to be in demand with transport corporations all over the world. Among them, Permagard can boast of associations with the likes of Boeing and BMW. Permagard’s range has met some of the most rigorous industry standards and utilises high tech scientific advances in the development of their products.

The Permagard Paint Protection is a long lasting high gloss finish that safeguards the paint exterior of a vehicle and makes it even easier to clean and maintain. In the absence of proper care, a car’s paint job often deteriorates with age and exposure to the elements. Permagard’s advanced polymer structures is a multi-layer coating that is capable of repelling dirt and pollutants, which reduces the need for washing and waxing.

The Permagard Window Tint encompasses heat and UV deflective technology is used to protect passengers. Features include a significant reduction in UV exposure and reduction of glare by up to 55%. The premium tint application uses extremely durable non-reflective films that have in-built scratch resistance. Window tints are certified by the ARPANSA (Australia Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety) and come with Protection Factor ratings of 450+ and 500+. There is a national lifetime warranty for Permagard Window Tint applications.

Permagard’s Antimicrobial Shield is an established essential for vehicle owners. With studies suggesting that vehicles, especially those that have been pre-owned are a haven for bacteria, Permagard Antimicrobial Shield is the sound choice for those wishing to maintain a sanitised interior. The Shield forms an invisible barrier that instantly eliminates harmful microbes present. Non-toxic and safe, Antimicrobial Shield works by “cell wall rupture technology”, a method that kills pathogens by piercing microbes’ cell walls. Permagard’s Shield, technically a mechanical method of eradicating microbes, means that not even superbugs are immune to destruction on contact. Taken together, Paint Protection, Window Tint and Antimicrobial Shield is a comprehensive way to ensuring the durability of your vehicle as well as maintaining a sanitised, comfortable and safe environment for vehicle owners and their families.

Richards and Bergmuller

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia: Round 2, Friday , Race 1

Steven Richards has ended Warren Luff’s winning streak in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia by taking Race 1 victory at Albert Park as James Bergmuller claimed his first Elite Class race win.

Luff was victorious in all three races at the season opening Clipsal 500 and claimed pole position for the opening race at the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix.

Richards gained the lead from the start and, after a close tussle early in the race, pulled away to be out of reach of the series leader by the chequered flag, winning by 1.6 seconds from Luff and Nick Foster close behind in third.

“I had a good race with Luff for a few laps towards the start. I’m really happy with the result and it’s great to get our first win of the season,” said Richards.

“Luff obviously had a great weekend at the Clipsal 500 so at some point we needed to be crawling some points back. It’s crucial we do it as soon as possible as he is no doubt going to be pretty consistent over the year.”

Shae Davies and Michael Patrizi had a race-long battle and finished in fourth and fifth from Craig Baird, Nick McBride, Michael Almond and Sam Power in ninth.

Smollen was the first Elite Class driver to finish, placed 10th, however a post-race five-second penalty for a jump start dropped him behind Bergmuller in the race results, with Smollen dropping to 11th from Tony Bates, Roger Lago, Stephen Grove and Renee Gracie in 15th.

Bergmuller was happy to get his maiden Elite Class race win and feels it is a step in the right direction for this season.

“I’m absolutely rapt with that result. It was totally unexpected,” said Bergmuller.

“At the beginning of the year I was aiming for a top five result in the Elite Class. After my Clipsal 500 podium I reassessed and now we’re looking toward greater goals and potentially even the championship. So far it’s looking alright.”

Duvashen Padayachee finished 16th after a spin at the start from Marc Cini, Ash Samadi, Brenton Ramsay, Adrian Masrondardo and Dean Koutsoumidis in 21st.

Two drivers failed to finish: Maurie Pickering incurred damage after contact with Ramsay and Tony Walls made contact with a concrete barrier late in the race.

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia will hold Race 2 tomorrow at 12:50pm and its final race of the weekend on Sunday – both to be telecast on Ten and One.

Permagard - Recognised Value for CHC Australia

Monday, June 5, 2017

After a successful Permagard treatment on their helicopters at Karratha WA, the Australian division of CHC Helicopters engaged Permagard Aviation again to bring some life back into some tired paintwork on their NSW fleet. The original request for the WA fleet was to provide protection against the harshest of environments that Karratha brings; souring temperatures, dust, salt and sea air. This particular request was to avoid repainting their NSW helicopters. Again, Permagard delivers an exceptional result.

About CHC.

Headquartered in BC, Canada, and operating more than 250 aircraft in 30 countries, CHC Helicopter is a large helicopter services company specializing in transportation to offshore oil and gas platforms; civilian search and rescue and air medical evacuation services; and helicopter maintenance repair and overhaul. CHC provides helicopter services in Australia for the Fire and Emergency Services Authority WA, Victoria Police and Ambulance services NSW.

Permagard protects RAAF’s heritage aircraft

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Just as the Australian Defence Force protects our great nation, Permagard now proudly protects the RAAF’s heritage aircraft. Permagard Aviation recently applied their Reactive Polymer Coating, on three static display aircraft, at the RAAF Base Wagga.

The F111 (A8-142), Macchi Jet Trainer (A7-004) and Mirage Fighter (A3-41), are now fully protected from our harsh Australian climate. Not only will the paint be protected from oxidation and fading for many years, but the aircraft will be easier to keep clean, and so will remain the pride of the RAAF Heritage Centre fleet.

Lufthansa Technik wins first Australian airline customer for Cyclean engine wash service

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Lufthansa Technik has secured its first Australian customer for its Cyclean engine washing technology.

The aviation services provider said on Friday Qantas had joined about 40 other carriers across five continents using its Cyclean Engine Wash service for the CFM56 powerplants on the airline’s Boeing 737-800 fleet.

The work has been licensed to 145 Aviation Services, a division of Permagard Australia Group.

Having secured Qantas as its first Australian customer at Melbourne, the company plans to add other Cyclean stations in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.

“We are delighted to have won Qantas, Australia’s largest airline, as a customer,” Lufthansa Technik head of engine life cycle services Oliver Winter said in a statement.

“Following this successful launch in Melbourne, we want to continually expand our network of Cyclean stations around the country.”

Lufthansa Technik AG brought its mobile Cyclean engine wash service station van to Australia in March 2016. The vehicle was based in Melbourne conducting demonstrations of the technology for airline customers. It was also on display at the recently concluded Australian International Airshow at Avalon.

The company says engine washes using the Cyclean technology can be conducted directly at the gate, saving time and resources. Further, the process is about 70 per cent quicker and uses less water than other engine cleaning methods.

Some 80,000 engines have been cleaned using Cyclean, which is suitable for the leading engine manufacturers such as General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, CFMI, and IAE.

The Permagard website said Cyclean sprays pre-heated water directly into the core engine at high pressure, which “provides a fine, evenly distributed amount of atomised water through the engine’s gas path”.

No post-wash engine runs are required, and the overall service time for each engine is less than one hour.

Virgin Australia turboprops to get Permagard treatment

Friday, May 27, 2016

Virgin Australia’s ATR 72-500/600 turboprop fleet of 14 aircraft will carry a protective exterior coating from Permagard Australia.

The work to clean, prepare and apply the clear polymer seal to the aircraft exterior takes two days per frame and is being conducted at Virgin’s Brisbane engineering facility, Permagard said in a statement.

The contract to work on Virgin’s turboprops extends Permagard’s relationship with the Australian carrier, which began in 2007 when a Virgin Blue Boeing 737 was first aircraft to undergo the procedure.

Since then, Permagard has applied its protective coating, which filters out ultra violet light and protects aircraft paint from oxidising and fading, to Virgin’s 737s, Airbus A330s and Embraer E190 jets. Once the ATRs are completed, about 120 Virgin aircraft will have the coating, which also helps reduce cleaning time and cuts down the number of times an aircraft needs to be washed.

Permagard, which is headquartered in France, also works on airlines such as Qantas, Jetstar, Regional Express and QantasLink, as well as Air New Zealand and its subsidiaries.

Meanwhile, in April, Permagard said it had gained certification to apply an invisible, non-toxic “antimicrobial shield” to the interiors of Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

The antimicrobial shield, which was developed by New Zealand-based Zoono Industries, takes about 45 minutes to apply to an empty aircraft interior, including the air conditioning ducts and filters. It is reapplied every 45 days.

This invisible coating bonds with all surfaces forming a dense, “microscopic shield or layer of sharp molecular pins”, Permagard said, which was “unaffected by regular aircraft cleaning processes”.

When a virus or pathogen makes contact with the layer, the cell walls of pathogen microbes are pierced and ruptured, disintegrating the microbe.

“It is a safe, highly effective process similar to antimicrobial treatments now used in hospitals and food processing plants,” Permagard group director Chris Plastow said in a statement.

“Airlines and air travellers have witnessed the emergence and worldwide impact of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), Bird Flu (Avian Flu) Swine Flu (H1N1), Ebola and the continuing prevalence of other serious diseases such as Zika Virus and Norovirus.

“Antimicrobial treatment of public transport equipment is a new and important focus for airlines, railway operators, bus and shipping lines as well as border control organisations and public health authorities.

“The solution requires an approach of continual improvement, application of new science and technology and a willingness by transport operators to invest in their duty of care.”

Currently, modern aircraft air conditioning systems frequently filter and recirculate cabin air during the flight, while alcohol-based disinfectants are often used to clean surfaces when on the ground.

757 Business Jet - Case Study by Warren Bertschinger

Thursday, May 7, 2015

Permagard Brisbane received a request from Hawker Pacific in Brisbane to provide a quote for an external wash on a B757 business jet.

They provided the contact details of the Director of Operations and after further discussions with him, We were able to extend the wash request to include the leading edge brightwork.

We inspected the aircraft on arrival and as expected, the aircraft was in excellent condition.

We had limited ground time to perform the scope of work, so it was agreed that we would perform the external wash and landing gear clean and defer the brightwork to the next available ground time.

Hawker Pacific were extremely happy with the results of the wash and We took the opportunity to discuss their requirements for the cabin interior deep cleans and Permagard application.

They did not require a full deep clean or leather protection at the time but requested a wipe down of the seats and full clean of the galleys (3) and the 4 toilets on their return.

Once we started on the brightwork, we found that the upper wing leading edges were badly marked. They had assumed that it was just water marks but in fact it was corrosion.

We were able to buff out most of the effective areas but due to the extra time spent on the wings, we had to defer the engines & tail section to a later date.

We also highlighted a few issues in the cabin (stains/marks and ingrained dirt) which had been there for years that we were able to remove.

As mentioned, the team did an excellent job and a credit to Kevin Goodwin and his his team for their exceptional attention to detail.

The jet's owners have not finalised their plans but they are looking at repainting the aircraft early next year and have requested a quote for a Permagard application.

Permagard Aviation completes Qantas A380 Deep Clean and Disinsection programme at Qantas Jet base, Melbourne, Tullamarine Airport

Thursday, May 7, 2015

In June 2014 Permagard was contracted to carry out a deep clean and Disinsection program on the Qantas A380, the flagship of the fleet.

Gearing up for this enormous project required a dedicated team utilising specialised cleaning tools and processes. Some of these tools were locally manufactured in house by Permagard specialist Staff.

Permagard’s representatives were initially overseen by team leaders from the Qantas Sydney cleaning crews, however, we soon adopted some of our own efficiencies to produce an even better result

The A380 is a long haul aircraft, with passengers spending extended hours on the plane, leaving the aircraft with a great need for a thorough clean at the end of each trip.

The A380 requires approximately 70-80 man hours to carry out a deep clean and disinsection per zone. The aircraft is split into three zones with the upper level being the most challenging due to its size.

Our specialised team, managed by Andrew Bojczuk and led by Jack Leonello, followed strict guidelines working within the Qantas procedure and quality manuals and overseen by Permagard senior management.

Much co-ordination is needed to undertake a project of this magnitude, and it all starts with excellent communications. From contacting Engineering to determine aircraft staging area for undertaking this process, to contacting catering to ensure that all the galleys have been decanted – ready for a thorough clean, and also the fleet presentation team – ensuring that all items such as pillows, blankets and magazines have been removed from the aircraft. With timely co-ordination, our teams were highly effective and efficient in swiftly executing the requirements of the job without delay.

Similarly, aircraft were timely in being returned to service, always within and exceeding customer expectations by consistently being made available ahead of time.

Permagard’s A380 cleaning team is first class and setting the benchmark for current industry standard, always leaving an unmatched standard of outcome at the end of the day.

This is endorsed by the engineers certifying for the completed tasks.
